I turned to early childhood development educators for confirmation that writing a series of books for children on the importance of protecting and preserving the environment was appropriate and not beyond age levels. There was resounding encouragement and a sense of urgency that these books were needed now. Children can have fun learning about the environment. “Be Kind to the Environment” is a user friendly and fun teaching aid that encourages discussion, will help clarify current issues, give a better understanding of the environment, and offer options we can all choose to live in a kinder world.
A HANUKKAH MIRACLE
An educational and entertaining children’s book, suitable for ages five to eight. The story focuses on the rituals and traditions of Hanukkah explaining how the holiday is celebrated and why it is called the “Miracle of Lights”.
The book consists of eight chapters. Each chapter represents one of the eight days of Hanukkah, with a cliffhanger finale, enticing the children to anxiously anticipate the next episode. The story involves an array of stuffed toy animals in the home of two young brothers. The animals are capable of secretly coming to life. They are enthralled by the rituals of Hanukkah they have observed secretly each night. The stuffed animals decide to hold their own Hanukkah celebration. The brothers discover their secret preparations. The story continues tying in the miracle of Hanukkah with a very modern day miracle of belief.
As with Barbara Feltquate’s previous children’s books, her stories are not only entertaining but create an opportunity for further discussion to pass down personal stories and traditions. A Hanukkah Miracle holds timeless appeal.

Silhouettes of Life is a compilation of inspirational and whimsical poems embracing family and friends and life’s experiences. It expresses an appreciation and awareness of life’s ups and downs and a profound belief that there is a certain amount of destiny in our own journey. I am mesmerized spiritually by God’s magical touch when I see magnificent sunrises and sunsets and view the timelessness of the oceans, the majesty of endless mountain terrains, and the glorious palette of colors only our creator could provide. I celebrate all ages recognizing we participate in a universal plan. I believe that deep in our souls, there is goodness in everyone and that love is the most powerful weapon of mankind.
With the birth of grandchildren, I became more introspective and reflective of my own legacy and message.
